TOURNAMENT NO. 8 RECAP

Ping Pong League

Thanks again for yet another successful ping pong tournament at the Flagship Store.

Tournament No. 8 was extremely competitive as we saw a brand new winner; Mr. Alan Blount.  Alan has been a tournament runner-up twice but had never won a tourney until last Saturday night which just so happened to be his son Daniel's first birthday!  No better guy to win the tourney than Chef Blount.  Congrats buddy!  With Alan's clean sweep and tournament victory he gained major power ranking points and shot up a few spots to number 4 in our Top 10.

Travis Howell who hadn't played in the last few tournaments was Tourney 8's runner-up as he made a huge splash and moved up a couple spots in our Power Rankings to number 6.

Finishing in third place and shooting himself into the Top 10 at number 9 is Phil Frost (Phealthy).  This was only Phil's second tournament!  He is a perfect example that you still have a shot to catch up in the Power Rankings if you simply just register and compete.

Unfortunately we had three last minute drop-outs prior to Tournament No. 8.  Just a reminder...

If you are registered for a tournament and you do not show up on the day of, you will lose 5 points toward your power ranking score.  If you need to drop out, please let us know at least 2-3 days prior to the tournament so we can attempt to fill your spot.

To our luck we were able to fill those three spots last minute so thank you to those who stepped in to make sure we could hold a 10 player tournament.

Our Number 3 Power Ranking member, Chris Grant (Blazing Paddles) shot himself in the foot after he was absent for his first match to start Tournament No. 8.  This forced us to start the 3-minute timer on Chris and unfortunately for him he didn't make it.  He was forced to forfeit his first match which placed him directly in the loser's bracket and threw a monkey wrench into Tournament No. 8.  This is a lesson to those who sing up for our tournaments; SHOW UP ON TIME!

Timeless Thrills finished fourth in Tournament No. 8 with only one match win but helped keep him comfortably in first place in our Top 10 Power Rankings.  With a huge win over Chris Grant, Eric (Ping Pong 101) shot up another spot to number 7 in our rankings.

Congratulations once again to Chef Alan Blount with the Tournament No. 8 Victory.  Stay tuned for Tournament No. 9 to take place in late September.  We'll see you then!
